Proudly SA on Friday 1 October, 2021 announced that it will form part of the South African team that will be participating in EXPO2020 which opens in Dubai today. The theme of the Expo is ‘Connecting Minds and Creating the Future via Sustainability, Mobility & Opportunity’ and will run until March 2022. Team South Africa’s focus is on job creation through economic growth with the theme ‘Think South Africa, Think Opportunity.’
EXPO2020 Dubai, which was postponed from last year, is the latest in the series of world expos, the largest and oldest global event.
The South African pavilion is appropriately located in the Opportunity District and will feature businesses and government departments promoting trade and investment opportunities in a range of fields including innovative technologies, creative arts, tourism and sports, mining and manufacturing.
A series of virtual exhibitions will show case the many opportunities for doing business with South Africa.
Proudly South African’s e-commerce and online purchasing platform, RSAMade, will be the exclusive e-commerce site for the Expo, hosting strictly locally manufactured products and services which visitors to the Expo can explore. This is providing Proudly SA member companies as well as other participating South African products and services who are looking for more export avenues with great exposure on a global platform.
Said Eustace Mashimbye, CEO of Proudly SA, “EXPO2020 Dubai is a massive platform for our country and local manufacturers of goods and services. What we are showcasing serves to illustrate the levels of excellence in our manufacturing sector across many industry sectors, including those on which the dtic has put special emphasis. These include clothing, textiles, leather and footwear, furniture, agro-processing and many more. Proudly SA has supported the dtic in their efforts to reignite these important sectors and we will be featuring member companies representing these industries during Proudly SA month in January 2022.”
January 2022’s theme is Opportunity during which Proudly SA will take a larger role. Women and youth owned enterprises and SMMEs will be featured, putting the spotlight on clothing and textiles, art and furniture, amongst others.
Proudly SA’s mandate of ‘Buy Local to Create Jobs’ has been expanded by its participation in EXPO2020 Dubai and offers the organisation the opportunity to assist members not only with domestic market access but now will put them on a global stage.
RSAMade will be ‘open for business’ throughout the duration of the EXPO2020.
