As we step into Youth Month, a time dedicated to honouring the vibrant and dynamic youth of South Africa, we are reminded of the pivotal role young people play in shaping our nation’s future. This month is not only a celebration of their creativity and potential, but also a call to action for all of us to support and empower the next generation. At Proudly South African, we recognize the immense value that the youth bring to our country’s development and are committed to fostering an environment where they can thrive and lead.
To the young people of South Africa, your actions today will define the South Africa of tomorrow. By choosing to buy local, you contribute directly to the growth of our economy, the creation of jobs, and the development of sustainable industries. Your support for locally made products and services fuels innovation and ensures that the wealth generated within our borders stays here, benefiting our communities. I urge you to take pride in what our nation produces and to be conscious consumers who understand the power of your purchasing decisions. Together, we can build a robust economy that offers more opportunities for everyone.
The month of May saw the continuous support of our local industries enjoying a team lunch at a local restaurant in Soweto, called Sakhumzi. This restaurant is a tourist attraction, that’s also a favourite amongst the locals. But most importantly Sakhumzi restaurant is now a Proud Member of the Proudly SA campaign! We must support places of interest that contribute to the economy and our local communities in a good way. We successfully hosted the Media Cook-Off in collaboration with our member company, Nestlé ESAR. This media engagement supported the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector. The activation sought to educate members of the media on the variety of locally produced products within the sector. We highlighted that it’s important to choose local ingredients in their daily, weekly, and monthly grocery shopping.
We also announced our upcoming Local Wine Expo, which will take place at the Prison Break Market on the 26th – 28th of July 2024. Be sure to save the date!
As we commemorate Youth Month, let us all reaffirm our dedication to supporting local enterprises and fostering a spirit of unity and pride in our South African products. Together, we can pave the way for a prosperous and sustainable future.
