SMMEs Deliciously Shine at International Festival
The DStv Delicious International Food & Music Festival was a celebration of local excellence on Saturday, the 21st and Sunday, the 22nd of September at Kyalami. Proudly South African food and lifestyle members took the concept of “local is lekker” to new heights in the Proudly South African Mile.
The mile was bustling with patrons eager for a variety of tasty treats and delights to satisfy any craving, and the members were more than ready to cater to their every desire.
True to its promise, Sumting Fresh stopped crowds with its mouthwatering burgers, wings, and bao buns. Members Kota King, and 2Selai offered deliciously scrumptious creations that more than met consumer demand. For those who prefer meat-free options, Vegan Chef presented a selection of tasty animal-free dishes that even meat lovers couldn’t resist. Other Proudly SA members serving up delicious offerings included Unorthodox Chef, Cosmo Dumpling, Bokhabane Events, Yococo, and Corner Dladla Pizzeria.
“It was a pleasure to be part of the traders at the DStv Delicious Festival 2024. Our Saturday trade went beyond expectations despite the inclement weather. Beyond exposure for our brand, the festival proceeds have allowed us to sustain our business and create opportunities for our ad-hoc team members. Thank you once again, Proudly South African, for trusting us with this important event,” says Corner Dladla Pizzeria.
In the Proudly SA Lifestyle Pavilion, Boys of Soweto, Thesis Lifestyle, 1984 Delux Brand, Imprint ZA, Fresh, Memuka Plastic Mats, Ntozinhle, Ledikana, Tlou Collections and Township Luxury brought their fashion game, shining through the gloomy weather. The lifestyle area was alive with attendees admiring the local tapestry and threads. Local fashion talent was on full display as Boys of Soweto and Imprint ZA dressed the MCs, Nay Maps and Hope Mbhele, highlighting the exceptional offerings of these local designers.
“The DStv Delicious Festival was a fantastic experience for team Ledikana. Day 1 was memorable, and despite the freezing weather, we exceeded our sales expectations. Our Basotho-inspired ponchos and traditional blankets were especially popular. The space was beautifully put together, and Proudly SA made it hassle-free for us to showcase our best-selling items. The location of the tent, with high foot traffic, made it a rewarding and profitable exhibition,” says Ledikana.
It’s safe to say that local is indeed lekker, and the event proved to be a successful access-to-market platform for all the Proudly South African members involved.
