2025 LOCAL FASHION POLICE COMPETITION

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. This competition is open to South African citizens aged 13 years or older. Minors may enter subject to the consent of parent(s) or legal guardian(s) (further terms and conditions apply).

2. This competition is not open to any director, employee, agency, representative, prize sponsor or contractor of Proudly South African or their immediate family members including any person directly or indirectly (including their immediate family members) involved in the organisation or running of the competition.

3. By entering this competition, an entrant is indicating his/her agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.

4. The competition commences on Friday 1 August 2025 and closes at 23h59 on Tuesday 30 September 2025.

5. Proudly South African does not accept responsibility for entries not received for whatever reason.

HOW TO ENTER:

6 The rules of the competition are as follows:

6.1. Entrants are to take a picture or video of themselves wearing a locally-made outfit/garment.

6.2. Entrants must display the origin of the garment to confirm that it is indeed locally-made. Entrants are encouraged to include the country-of-origin label (i.e. “Made in South Africa”) in their entry for this purpose.

6.3. Entrants are to post the image/video of themselves in their locally-made outfit/garment on their Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, and/or Instagram account and very importantly, tag Proudly SA, African Bank and the designer/manufacturer they are wearing.

6.4. Entrants are to also use all the hashtags as follows: #LocalFashionPolice2025 #FashionableBanking and #LovedHereMadeHere to qualify.     

6.5. Entrants must follow Proudly South African and African Bank on the social media platform that they are entering from.

7. Proudly South African and the prize sponsors reserve the right to cancel the competition at any time for any reason whatsoever and shall not be liable in anyway whatsoever to entrants for any cause or action whatsoever in the event of the cancellation of the competition.

8. The prize package is as follows: Four lucky winners will each win a designer outfit(s)/garment(s) made by one of the local designers participating as a judge in the Proudly SA 2025 Local Fashion Police competition. The value of the prize is R50,000 per the selected winner.

9. On acceptance of their prizes, each of the four winners consent for their picture (donning their competition prizes with their full names and provinces to be utilised, published and/or broadcast on various media platforms (including digital) at the discretion of Proudly SA, its representatives, prize sponsors and participating judges until the end of time (no personal contact information of competition winners will be shared or displayed without their prior approval in writing).

10. Winners will also be required to be present at the competition finale where they will be required to model their competition prizes in person (at a venue and date to be announced by Proudly South African).

10.1.1 In the event that the selected winner cannot attend the finale in person, they agree to forfeit the prize. The organiser (namely, a representative from Proudly South African) will use their discretion in this regard.

11. Prizes are not transferable and are not negotiable.

12. Proudly South African reserves the right to alter the rules of the competition or the prizes at their own discretion and may take effect immediately at the discretion of Proudly South African. No entrant shall have any right of recourse against Proudly South African as a result of the amendment to the competition rules and/or prizes.

13. The winners will be selected by a panel of judges comprised of nine local designers, and/or representatives of Proudly South African, and/or representatives of the sponsors, and will be announced on all Proudly South African’s social media pages by the week of 27 October 2025 – date subject to change.

14. The judges’ decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into after the fact.

14.1 Criteria: The competition entrant must wear a locally-made outfit of which proof is required. Thereafter, the judges will consider each entrant based on the following:

  • Originality
  • Uniqueness
  • Style
  • Creativity

Entrants must showcase that they truly support local fashion.

15. Selected winners’ use and acceptance of prizes are at their own risk. Proudly South African and the prize sponsors (and/or their respective agencies) cannot be held liable for any accident, injury, loss or damage as a result of participating in the competition/competition events, winning, accepting and/or utilising competition prizes, or any other activity relating to this competition.

16. Any violation or attempt to violate any of the competition rules laid out above will result in the immediate disqualification of the entrant.

17. All entrants must also display common decency and respect in all their engagements pertaining to this competition. Should an entrant or selected winner be found to be guilty of any misconduct whatsoever, Proudly South African reserves the right to wholly and unreservedly disqualify the entrant and/or selected winner.
